A principal goal of Martin County is to promote balanced, orderly, sustainable economic growth by creating and promoting an economic environment consistent with its Comprehensive Growth Mangement Plan that will enhance prosperity for all communities and citizens of Martin County. In 1990 the County adopted an Economic Element to underscore its commitment to promoting economic growth. In addition the Board of County Commissioners adopts a Strategic Plan every year and the Strategic Plan contains a goal on Economic Development. Many of the activities of County government directly contribute to establishing a healthy business climate. Some activities create jobs such as a capital project while some activities are designed to assist business owners with establishing, expanding or relocating a business. Still other activities provide internet access, funding or training that may benefit business.
